Whether you’re in need of a food lover’s gift, melt in the mouth dry-aged steaks, a date night cheeseboard or relaxed lunch with your pals, you’ll find what you’re after in our, Deli, Café and award-winning Butchery.
Provenance is at the heart of everything we do, which is why we work directly with the farmers, makers and artisans whose produce you’ll find here. We try everything at home first, before it makes an appearance in the shop, so we’re full of recommendations – just ask!
We’re lucky in the Lake District to be home to some phenomenally talented food & drink producers.
In amongst the San Marzano tomatoes, Ancho Chilies of Mexico and Miso Paste from Japan, you’ll find Wildflower Honey from the Lowther Estate (just up the road), the best Tomato Ketchup we’ve ever eaten from Hawkshead Relish and freshly baked Sourdough crafted by More? The Artisan Bakery in Staveley.

We take meat pretty seriously here – well, as the UK’s Best New Butchery of 2020, you wouldn’t expect any less would you?
Chris, our head Chopper, is a Butcher by trade and along with Jonny, they cut, bone, score, slice and dice all your favourite cuts, as well as handcrafting an endless supply of sausages.

Jam-packed with the very best from British artisan producers, our deli counter boasts the great and the good from UK cheese and charcuterie makers.
Try a truckle of Tunworth (a British Camembert hand crafted in Hampshire) or Old Winchester, a delicious parmesan/cheddar/gouda cross from Wiltshire.
Along with our house-made Pies, Sausage Rolls, Scotch Eggs and Pork Pies, there’s bound to be some goodies that take your fancy.
The joy of having a café in our shop is that we can champion the meat from our Butchery or the speciality ingredients you’ll find on our shelves.
The Black Pudding on your breakfast is made in house by us, then sliced and cooked to order. The Cheese & Chive Scone you’re tucking into – it’s been whipped up that morning by our chef with traditional Cave Aged Cheddar and vivid green chives.
We’re working to be as sustainable as possible, so our menu changes every season. Think espresso-marinated Steak Tacos, Pea & Comte Croquettes with Asparagus Salad and, of course, a classic burger fit for a butcher!
